Emulating classic weird fiction, Randall Sharpe has been writing in the Astral Alignment universe since 2021, an award-winning, genre-spanning series that incorporates elements of science fiction, urban fantasy and horror. Born and raised in the American Midwest, and more recently emigrated to California, Randall first began to write in college, where he majored in psychology. His other interests include martial arts, outdoorsmanship, gaming and new age esoterica, the lattermost of which has inspired much of his work. That said, Randall Sharpe would not describe himself as a true believer.
On the contrary, Randall underwent a period of deep immersion into conspiracy culture as a teenager, getting firsthand experience in the darkest, most hateful aspects of that world. Astral Alignment thus began as a form of self-therapy, an attempt to distill a number of harmful beliefs into something productive. In this it succeeded, but it also became a passion all to itself, and the setting has continued to expand ever since. Originally, its defining principle was that every creature and phenomenon featured was something that a large group of people actually believed could exist in real life, whether through pseudoscience, superstition or otherwise. More recently though, Astral Alignment has expanded beyond this into more conventional science-fantasy.
Regarding his personal life, Randall could be described as eccentric on a good day. He began writing at the age of eighteen, and as such, Astral Alignment incorporates many elements of the Zoomer experience. Randall was also diagnosed on the spectrum and is heavily autodidactic, devoting most of his free time to private study in a diverse range of fields, some of them legitimate like foreign languages and computer science, others more dubious like parapsychology and hypnosis. He can be found today posting on various imageboards and subreddits, sinking hours into sandbox games like Terraria, and raging against the machine on a continuous basis, in the hopes of keeping his work afloat amid a sea of AI-generated content. It is unlikely that he will survive Roko’s Basilisk.
